Rebecca's 18th

All our nephews and nieces are growing up far too fast.......it's scary, I still only feel 18 myself!  So it was our lovely Becky's 18th birthday a couple of weeks ago, which gave me an excuse (not that I need one) to get in the craft room and do a special card :-)
This one is a white scalloped edge 8 x 8 card blank.  The blue backing paper is from my Kanban stash, and it was distressed & stitched onto black card.  The other three papers were from my scraps draw (never throw anything away) which also got distressed and stitched onto black card.  The topper is from the Kanban Steampunk collection...........which I love!  The metal embellishment is from some jewellery bits & bobs that I have. I just made some little dangly's with some beads and then stamped one of the kanban steampunk designs onto shrink plastic, coloured it (with Promarkers), shrunk it and hung it on!!  The card was then finished off with a sentiment, sticky pearls and a lovely bow!  :-)

For the first time ever, I thought I would have a go at decorating the inside of a card, instead of just using a paper insert!  When I'd done it, I said to myself......................................."why have you not done this before? I love it!!"  I just took two pieces of paper from my 12 x 12 stash that matched the colour scheme, distressed the edges and randomly stamped the steampunk image onto it.  The cobweb corners are one of my yummy "Cheery Lynne" dies and lastly, the scalloped oval for writing my message on was cut using my Cricut machine (Elegant Edges).  There you have, job done..................................... and she thought it was "awesome" .......I think that makes me "Cool Auntie Debs"  ;-)

  2. What a fab card, and really shows what a creative crafter can do to take Kanban way, way beyond basic kit crafting. No wonder it went down so well.

  5. Thanks Queen Lightwell, I did enjoy making this card :-) The stamps that you like are from the Kanban Steampunk range, I think the set is called "Jasper". I hope you find them :-)
